Deer Quality points
« on: April 26, 2016, 11:04:47 AM »
Just curious what people out there are thinking as it relates to these points.  Does last seasons high harvest and tougher than normal winter impact what those who are sitting on lots of points decide to do?

Yes, I won't be applying for Chelan county or Okanogan county GMU's, for the reasons you stated. Actually I'm surprised they didn't reduce the number of permits, or even eliminate them entirely this year.

I'm not sure why I did it or that I can believe I actually did do it, but I applied for a blacktail quality permit.  :dunno:

Built my points back up to ten and will be putting in as usual.  No high expectations of drawing but by chance I do, know there is still some awesome deer around!

For the last couple years I have just being doing points for the quality deer. I've been trying to draw the palouse buck hunt and figured with about 1:3 applicants getting that tag I was about due to get it with 3 or 4 points. I didn't want to take the chance and get drawn for both buck and quality buck in the same year. I would hope with 5 points this year and low harvest rates from the blue tongue last year that I can draw it this year.

I voted hold them, but not for the reason you specified.

I clicked put in as usual and then realized I am holding them this year but not for the reasons you listed either.

I normally get the multiseason and put in as a team with my kids to get them drawn for a quality permit.  I didn't get the MS deer this year so I will just save my points until I can use them as a team with my kids.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Yea, I drew it in 2011 and haven't been able to get drawn since. I think all of my luck goes to 2nd deer. I have gotten that I think 5 out of 6 years.

Holding.
No way they should have all those Okanogan and Chelan quality tags.

Holding my quality tags this year. 10 points for both. So not taking the chance of wasting points so im only putting in for one tag this year and points for the other.. They killed all the deer last year for quality.  :chuckle:

Used my quality points in 2014 so I applied this year figuring I won't draw.
