Found a few more pics from the Eight Mile Creek trip, no goats but I did find a goat track.

Another pic of camp. Hennessy hammocks are pretty comfy as long as you can find suitable trees to hang from. It was difficult to find good trees up in the alpine that didn't have a ton of under brush around them. Unfortunately the Hennessy had to go when I started cutting weight from the pack. My final sleep system and tarp was around 6 lbs. ENO hammock, Jacks R Better top and bottom quilt, Whoopie slings and the Hennessy Hex rain fly. My original sleep system was over 12 lbs.

Another pic from Eight Mile Creek trail, I went up there twice and both time it was fogged in, its crazy how much the weather changes in a few thousand feet of elevation. If I was able to do this hunt again I would spend a few days up there. Saw lots of tracks and if the weather would clear up there are several places the looked good on Goggle Earth to do some glassing.
 
 Note the pack cover, it was raining in August last year in the Boulder River Wilderness area.

I'm not normally a big worrier, but after finding out I drew the tag I started having random thoughts of what could go wrong to ruin this hunt. I had fears like breaking a leg or the woods being closed to fire danger or finding out there was a problem with the drawing and they were going to redraw. And then one day I got an email from the biologist that manages the Boulder River Wilderness area. Of course I didn't see it until late Friday night and had to wait until Monday morning to be able to call her. Fortunately her news was not too horrible. The legal description does not match the map in the game regs. The Map is correct, the legal description that includes Jumbo Mt is not in the open area. That was a long weekend.

Not trying to thread jack this awesome post but while I was looking at the map just now I starting thinking that if there is a big enough herd to have a hunt in an area this small, Why not put out a tag in the glacier peak wilderness as well. There are many more goats there. At least that's what I have experienced in my time in both areas. Anyhow just a random rant keep on with the great posts!
