Permit Enforcement on Weyerhaeuser land?

So my property borders the Weyerhaeuser Yacolt unit. I just found out they are switching to permitted access only come August 1.

We've already got several threads on here were people discuss their feelings, pro and con about that. It is what it is, and I'm not interested in rehashing all that. I make the rules on my land, and expect people to respect that so I'll do the same for them. So I'll either buy the permit or not step foot on their land again.

One thing I'm wondering is how they are enforcing it on their other properties. Clearly they are going to lock the gates and give motorized permit holders a key as their biggest enforcement piece.

I'm curious if they are doing any sort of patrols. Their website makes reference to "Security."

My biggest concern is that they will have a bunch of security guards running around up there. While some of the folks who do that kind of work are fine people, my overall impression has not been positive. So if I'm going to have to deal with a bunch of Officer Tackleberry wannabee's, I'll probably say "no thanks" particularly if they are armed with firearms.

WDFW will patrol as always.

If you don't have a permit law enforcemeny will refer charges for criminal trespass.

As far as I know Weyco doesn't have armed security. So if security catches you they will report you to a law enforcement agency, they can also prohibit you from accessing their lands at all. Technically a sheriff could deputize weyco security which gives them arrest/citation authority but no sheriff does to my knowledge.

I believe they use trail cams that send a text message to them. They can just check to see if the license plates are in their system for one of their pass holders.

We got checked by a Weyerhaeuser employee in the Pe Ell south area last year on the first day of deer season. Nice guy, and I'm not sure if he was as armed or not, as he didn't get out of his truck.

Couple years ago there was a trapper that was doing security for WEYCO. He was doing a little trapping on the side as I understand and was caught with a pistol on WEYCO land. They fired him over the gun.

I appreciate every one's responses. My concerns may be over blown, but this is a significant change for us out here, and I'm trying to figure out what it is going to mean for us.

A couple of years ago I had a pretty negative interaction with a guy on Weyco land, but in their defense I'm pretty sure it was one of their contractors and not one of their direct employees. My conduct wasn't as good as it could have been, but I don't do well when the conversation starts with somebody screaming at me and attempting to be a bully.

If you have a permit I expect you won't have any issues.  Its a new world so everyone is learning.  The good news is there are permits being offerred.

There seems to be quite a few "forest patrol" trucks up in vail. They stop you and ask for your permit number, write it down and move along. The only time I've been asked to see my paperwork is by wdfw.

First off everyone ive heard interacting with wyco was on thier roads not in the woods.
