Sportsman's Warehouse
« on: April 27, 2016, 08:48:14 PM »
Is anyone here familiar with the archery shop at the Silverdale Sportsman's Warehouse? Do they do a good job?  My bow needs a new string, and due to a health problem taking the vision from my right eye, I need to have it switched over to shooting left handed

I can't speak for the quality of service of the guys at the Silverdale store, but nobody can switch a right handed bow to left hand.   :yike:  You need a new bow for a left handed shooter.

I didn't know bows were left or right handed. That sucks.  Thanks for the tip.

These guys are saying if you are already a shooter, then don't switch bows and shoot the one you already have. Just change the way you look through the peep.

What's the difference between right & left handed bows?

A right handed bow is held in the left hand, and drawn with the right.  The riser is what is different.   Looking from behind the bow the arrow rest is on the left side of a right handed bow, and the cable guide is to the right.  The grip is usually different as well.  The biggest issue in shooting a bow wrong handed is the cables.  They'll flay the skin off your forearm.    :yike:

In my many years of working on bows I have shot a few left handed bows right handed, but I have never done it well.

Pigman, shoots a right handed bow with his left eye since he's blind in the right now. He has his sight mounted on the inside of the riser and a rear sight mounted on the back side of the riser, there is no peep involved. You can probable see his set up on newer YouTube videos or watch his show.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Silverdale Sportsmans, my kid works there. He the ONLY one there I'd let touch my bow. I'll PM you his name. oh and as stated above, if your switching eyes, you need a different bow..would be tough to shoot left eye with a right handed bow I'd think...
