If'n it was me I'd get a Coolpix camera and call it good.   I have a D7000 as I wanted to use my lenses from the film era when I had a N90S.   The Coolpix take as good a picture and are cheaper and lighter than the D7000.   I do have some recommendations among the Coolpix family.

If you want to see my D7000 let me know.

What's your asking price on that one Bill? What lenses?

I'm not selling my D7000 but thought you might want to see what the full size camera looks like (and hefts).  Then compare it to a Coolpix.

There are features available on the D7000 that aren't on the Coolpix but unless one is a camera geek those features aren't needed (or probably ever used).

A few years back I wanted a "nicer" yet inexpensive camera. I got on we and found a Canon T2i with and 18-55 lens for 350.00 and works GREAT! Then I picked up a canon 55-200 lens for 250.00.... Really like my set up so far. I'm no pro by any means, but works great for my needs... Also listen to Bean Counter. He knows his shizzle!! Good luck!
