Billy clapp eyes?
« on: May 07, 2016, 02:53:05 PM »
Went out today and didn't even have a confirmed confirmed bite. Targeted mostly eyes but fished for bass a little. We were running bottom walkers for the eyes in 30 to 50 feet. For the bass we ran cranks, spinners, and soft plastics. Not a single bite. Any ideas what we were doing wrong?

Never fished there before, but if the bites off, its off.  Try different speeds, different setups, different depths.  Ive heard slow death hooks alone with a worm can work great.  That's about all I can think.
Right wing shooter, I aim for the left!!!

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

If you want bass, run to the far end and fish the flats on the S side from the power line to the can line, you should be able to see them swimming around. You are fishing way to deep. Same area for the eyes, just of the breaks, 15 to 20 ft. There are some humps at that end also that you should check.

I've only fished Billy Clapp for 'eyes once before. It was in May just like now. My only bites came in 70 fow on a bottomwalker/worm harness. I had to be very precise and put my gear where a rock hump met the flat bottom of the lake. If I didn't hit it right, no bites. When I hit it right I got bit every pass. This was at the upper end of the lake opposite the boat ramp near where the canal flows in. It proved to be laborious for the relatively small fish I was catching. At that time the size limit was still 16" to keep, I only scratched out a couple keepers for perhaps 15 boated.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

I fished Billy Clapp a couple of years ago for walleyes and trout.   We caught our walleyes on a dodger and fly 20' deep in 55 feet of water.   Wonder what the heck they were doing up that high.

Probably feeding on trout. The deeper lakes can have good suspended  bites.  But no to many people fish them.
