Nockturnals?
« on: May 17, 2016, 09:07:05 PM »
Decided I was going to make the switch to lighted nocks this year, and after talking to a couple people and seeing they were lighter than lumenocks, I picked up some Nockturnals. Shot them today for the first time, and out of six, two won't turn off and one won't turn on. Anyone else have similar experience? I'm thinking of ditching my idea to go to lighted nocks.  :dunno:

I have had no problemsat with mine.  They might be a little tough to shut off but a sharp pin to push up the button works.   Never had one not turn on.

I have been shooting them. Those are my experiences as well. They are nice and bright but I manage to chew up the switch then they wont click on all the time. They make a little tool that I am going to pick up that is supposed to be better for using on them.

I bought the tool to turn them off. The collar that slides up is broken inside on one of the two that won't turn off, and the other one just won't move. On one of them, the little "pin" that sits in the throat of the nock is pushed all the way into the nock. Not sure about the one that won't turn on. Couldn't see the green ones at all in the sun today either..

Red is what i use.  Tried the other colors but red is the best outdoors.  The tool works good.  Trying calling the manufacture or where you bought them.  I have heard people got bad ines replaced.  That is if they werenbad out  of the package.  I can tell you I have probably 3 dozen between my 2 different bows with different arrow and my wifes arrows.  Not a failure yet.

The company should replace them.  Good people with actual service skills.

On the other hand - I really like your idea of "...ditching my idea to go to lighted nocks."  Easier to reach a good FOC and more consistency.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Yeah, with them my FOC is a hair under 12%. If I go back to the standard X nock I'm around 13.3%.

I had one turn off midflight towards a bull.  Made me think i overshot when i actually dropped it between the legs.  So of course i aimed lower on the second shot...

I am done with them.

Recently I was practicing using the nocturnals and one side of the nock broke off when I released. Terrible vibration and the arrow took off almost sideways. I quit and took the bow to the shop to make sure it was ok. From there I removed all the nocturnals and put the original nocks back in. I found my groups past 30 yards tightened up a lot. Not sure if these things affect accuracy and consistency but it appears that way to me. Think I will stick with normal nocks from now on.
