Field trial questions
« on: May 20, 2016, 05:22:26 AM »
I'm getting a lab pup late June and plan on taking him to the field trial level. My last lab, (Super Chief bloodline), I trained, was a great dog, but I never took him to the field trial level. I have no idea on where to start when it comes to competitions. Any info on where to start would be great.

Thanks for the info, but are they the only game in town? The Web site has events for February and March 2015???? Seems like a long time not to update your Web site.

My uncle is a trainer on the westside. Him and my cousin travel the country running trials. I am sure you could call and talk to my cousin and he can give you a lot of solid advice.

Northeast Washington Gun Dog Assoc is based in Chewelah.

North Idaho Club is also a good contact. Based out of Spokane.

Let me know if you can't find the contact info on them and I will get some email addys for you.

After having a pointing trial dog that was awesome at hunting and trialing if I had to do it over again I'd skip the trialing part. Nothing more than a waste of money that could have easily financed some really great hunting trips.

After doing more research on field trialing I've decided to go with AKC Hunt Test titles. Pup should be here this weekend.

We were really happy with going the UKC hunt test route as they seemed more suited to actual hunting than AKC.  I suppose a lot my depend on the people and clubs you meet, but we are looking forward to doing more with Whistling Wings Hunt Retriever Club with our next puppy.

Brings back memories.....almost bought a Super Chief puppy way back when I was into trialing.  One regret I guess I always have.  Good luck with your new pup.
