Taxidermy Storage Question
« on: May 20, 2016, 09:56:36 AM »
Taxidermists,

I'm in the middle moving and I'm in need of temporary storage for several mounts and rugs while I build a new house.  I'm guessing they'll be in storage for at least 12 months.  What things should I consider when choosing storage for the mounts?  I'm hesitant to rent a storage unit for fear of something happening to them.  I've considered borrowing some shop space from friends, but I'm worried about humidity.  Is heated storage an absolute necessity? or would a little moisture and temperature variation from a shop ruin them?

The big killers on mounts are moisture, sunlight, and smoke. So as  long as you store them away from those elements you will be fine.

:yeah: And typical storage units are infested.

Maybe see if a sporting good store would hang them up and show them off till you get your house done  :dunno:
