bow string questions
« on: May 23, 2016, 08:49:30 PM »
I picked up a bear anarchy hc earlier this year, and am getting around now to finally shooting it on a regular basis, and I'm pretty un-impressed with the stock string setup, seems to constantly be stretching, had a couple different shops take a look, and the consensus is they just didn't come with great strings.

So I'm thinking I may upgrade to something else,  haven't decided what yet, when I do get a new one, this one could be used as a backup, only has 125 ish shots on it now. Can I leave the peep and stuff tied on, and expect to be able to swap the string without doing a full return of the bow? Is it worth it to have a backup on hand?

Any recommendations of who should build my next string?
Thanks!

syoungs,

I use Pro-Line Bowstrings for all my Bear's. I order my strings in the BCY-X material and have had no issues. When I ordered them for my Anarchy HC, I had very little tweaking to do after re-stringing (typical cam sync, cam lean adjustments). The set has been on my Anarchy HC for just about a year and still rock solid, no peep rotation at all. Also I will typically do what you've mentioned, I will shoot in the factory string (for settling and tuning purposes) and then re-string with Pro-Line's making sure to remove the factory string and paperclip the ends as they come off the cams, buss posts etc (leaving nock points, d-loop, and peep tied in) so I have a complete set of backup strings in case of emergency during the season.

As long as you paper clip your old strings together you shouldn't have a problem with them loosing any twists or the like, so you can just put them back on as is without a problem. Lots of string makers out there, 60x and Americas best come to mind but there's far more makers out there than those two.
