Is there anyone out there that is cage trapping badger?

I am familiar with the animal and have caught them before in leg holds but want to trap a few this trapping season and I don't know how big/stout of a cage to use.

I'd like to give that a try if I was ever over on the east side of the state. I wonder what the best bait for them is...? I'm assuming cages need to be very strong!
Good luck!

can you modify a 50 gun browning safe into a badger trap? maybe do a figure 4 trigger holding the door up with the safe laying on its side? That might hold one for a few minutes

I was considering making some similar to my skunk traps, made out of 8 inch PVC. I don't think (famous last words) that a badger could dig out of the PVC as long as the doors were solid.

I'm not sure 8 inch would be big enough but I study some fresh wholes the other day and they are only about 8 inches.

I use to catch badger in dirt whole & flat sets for fox and coyote. I would assume the bait would be the same.

With the fur prices the way they it's a good time for experiencing new things and trying different stuff.
