AM Drive, Monroe Unit
« on: May 29, 2016, 12:20:02 PM »
Not much action, saw grouse with a death wish that almost got run over by a certain FJ. Pulled one of my cams and had this fella, I'd say a shooter in my book. Brother in law also mentioned an email that went out to the tag holders specifically in the Monroe unit about bait barrels being vandalized? What the heck.....seems to always be someone trying to jack things up for those in the future. Keep it kosher out there folks.

I've had to explain to hikers what those barrels are for and no they aren't for hunting

Yeah right. You call that a shooter? Way to small. I thought all your spots had the BIG bears

Newbie bear guy here, what are the barrels for?

The timber companies feed the bears out of the barrels to draw them away from other specific areas of their tree farms.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Awfully nice accomodation that the state allows our timber companies in direct opposition the rest of us peons get.

I've talked with the fella that manages where I hunt. Another thing it does is at times concentrate the areas that get peels.  I've explored and just outside the area of the barrels you see lots of peels.

King Co. voters took that right away from us hunters.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Last year the barrels were barely touched by bears for some reason up here they had 5 drums out and I was up there at least once a week and the chow was just getting moldy and full of slugs no sign at all by 2 of them now this year they've been getting hammered on both bears and coyotes

If you have a tag or permit can you hunt over the barrels or do you have to stay.
