Daughter in training.....first pheasant walk with dad.....
« on: November 30, 2008, 03:30:17 PM »
Took my daughter out for a walk with my buddy and brother this weekend. she had a great time and wants to go again soon.  shes only 7 but i am trying to start her early learning about rules and the right hunter way.  Thinking about waiting till at least 10 to get her in hunters ed, but she really had fun and we got 1 bird up but no shot.
so happy i can share the outdoors with my little girl!...

Great Job Backwoods !!!!!!

My oldest son who is currently at Fort Sam Houston, is just dieing to be out in the woods or field with me than where he currently is.
Take them, teach them right, and you will have a hunting partner for life.

Good for you. IMO there is only one way our lifestyle will continue, and that is through the education and involvement of our youth. As happy as she looks in those pics; you must be doing something right.

Makes a heck of an armrest too.  ;)

I've been doing the same thing, I started taking my daughter out with me when she was 4, and she would sit on the ground blind and color or look at the brids and deer, now she is 8 and wants to go hunting all the time. I got her a practice bow so she can learn to hunt and I also have a real bow for her to shoot deer with, but that will wait till she can pull it back all the way, and fells comfortable with holding the bow at full draw.
