AZ weekend trip
« on: June 01, 2016, 10:44:58 AM »
Finally got to enjoy a holiday weekend. Decided to pack up my pup ( the girlfriend had to work all weekend) and drove out to AZ for some mulie scouting. Cool trip, but lots of driving! Here's a few pics.

Yeah, that's a hell of a drive, cool drive though, my son played in the junior olympics for baseball den there and we went through Nevada all the way to Glendale and it was probably the coolest drive I have ever done, when it started to get dark there were snakes all over the road, never seen any deer or antelope but it was like 100 degrees so I am sure they were hiding out until dark.. Made me want to hop on a horse and go for a ride though..
my grandpa always said "if it aint broke dont fix it"

Yeah, it was pushing 90 on Monday. The antelope didn't seem to mind, but the deer were all hiding in the shade most of the time. Saw deer all 3 days, got video of a couple, but they were usually to fast to get the camera on for some pics. Glad we didn't see any snakes though, I'm always a little nervous for my dog sniffing around out there. I try and keep him close by, but still a little stressful.

Last weekend was definitely better than the coming. Its supposed to be 112-115 in the Sonoran desert.

Dang man! That's hot! The hunting starts in August so I'm sure it'll be a little warm then too.
BEAN, I tried to send you a thank you via Pm, but your inbox was full. I ended up in the area you mentioned. Thanks again!

Yes, I was down there for an outdoor wedding on Saturday.  Very glad it wasn't a week later!  High 90's is great, 115 not so much.

Sorry  :bash: Cleared room

LOL I don't even remember where I told you to go. The few times I've gone out in August/September in the southern desert I only hunted in the morning. If you don't see anything by 9am you often wont see much because it gets so dammed hot. But I've been up north of the Rim, in 9 & 10, and saw activity in the afternoon.

Thread jack here but I went to an outdoor wedding last year when it was 114 degrees out. Highest recorded temperature all time in Boise. It was miserable

Oh, I know. Trust me. I've been a weekend warrior photographing some of these weddings in the last few years. Think it's hard to just sit there and endure some boring ceremony, try running around with a camera and strobes and its your job to give someone the best photograph they've ever seen of themselves. Stained my black polo shirt white with the salt of my own sweat once or twice. There's a physical component moving around but it's also quite demanding on the concentration.

I bet the photography equipment isn't exactly light weight either
