Hello! I am an archery hunter and have thought about going to methow valley to shoot a mature mule buck. So far I am planned to be there on the first 3 days of September, but am really unsure what I am working with. Is it easy to tag out there? I heard there is a fair amount of deer, just unsure what a hunters perspective on that valley is like. any tips or tricks anyone is willing to share? Anything helps. Thanks.
:o Are you guys taking this seriously? I was sure it was a joke  :dunno:

 :yeah:

Three days isn't gonna do it for you unless you know where your mature deer is currently living. I would go there every weekend up until the season to scout. I know that whole area quite well. If you want the mature monster, you need to get up high or know private land owners who will let you hunt their land. And Jpmiller is correct about a guide. If you have the money have Aaron Lee drop you off in the Pasayten Wilderness.

Aaron with early winters outfitters is who I was talking about as well. An absolute first rate service.

On what planet is aaron a good outfitter?  Expensive horse ride with an arrogant ahole

:chuckle: I've heard good and bad about em all. I'd hire any of the local outfitters if I wanted to hunt their area. The way I see it, chose your outfitter based on where you want to hunt. IMO, the outfitter gets you there, and it's up to you to tackle the hunt the way you want to and produce. :twocents:

Also, I think this thread is a  :stirthepot: as well........

Why do you say that?

We shopped an outfitter in january for a september high hunt and by we it was my local hunting buddy and his dad and buddy from tahatchapee california.  Aaron was impossible to get ahold of once we made the deposit and then he took us to "sucker camp" 4 miles into the paysayten to a very well traveled camp ground.  11 other people did a day hike to get there.  I would highly not recommend him.  Alot of money for a camping trip

I have only ever had good experiences with Aaron and Early Winters Outfitters. We have used them several times and I have never had anything less than great experiences. Sorry to hear about your trip but from what I have experienced first hand and talked to others who have also used them it sounds like an outlier.

This herd needs a break... Winter kill, fires and a 2015 huge harvest, has the herd in bad shape :twocents:

New advice, don't get an outfitter, don't go to Methow, don't hunt east side at all. Come over to the west and hunt blacktails and have some real fun.

if you have a lot of money, I've heard that you can pay landowners a large sum of money to shoot a large trophy that has been tamed.

Apparently if you pay them enough, the new service they offer, they will even come on all the hunting forums and threaten everyone with lawsuits that discusses your "doushbagery".
It is a popular new service!

I'd stay away from methow area for a while, the muley herd has been hammered on the last few years. Go a little farther east and hit okanogan.
To God alone be the Glory!!
