Sako A7 vs Finnlight in 270 WSM
« on: June 02, 2016, 01:40:52 PM »
I cannot find a A7 in a 270WSM to save my rear.  Anyone have either of these two guns in this caliber and what are your thoughts?

Both are great rifles. If you have the money for the finnlight go that way. The a7's have had some magazine issues that some friends have had some problems with. I have one and it has not had to many issues with the mag and shoots great but I still like the finnlight better.

I have one and love it. Like said the mag had issues. The top lips weren't tight enough to keep the rounds from springing up. That was sometimes. Heard that has been fixed. The replacement mag worked perfect also. It's my go to kill all gun. Shoots 140 accubonds very well.

Incredible rifles, I don't think you can go wrong with either.
My Finlight is a 300 Win Mag, best money I ever spent on a firearm.

.270 WSM is on the way from Euro Optics.  If you guys have not had the pleasure to speak with those guys (Eric is whom I dealt with) they are full of knowledge and treat you right.  Time to go punch some paper.

I have the A7.  Wish I had gotten the Finnlight instead.  A7 shoots ok, but it is finicky on loads and the magazine sucks balls!  Tikka shoots just as well for less money and the all plastic mag is better.  Though it's not my favorite mag either.

The Finlight mags are kind of expensive, I believe I spent $50 a piece for my extra mags, but the are very good quality.

$50 for ones that work is better than $38 for ones that don't!

I just picked up a A7 in 7mm mag.  They are really nice rifles.  But for $500 more I couldn't find the reasoning for the Finnlight.  I am just now starting to get into reloading so I'll see how that goes.  Shot sub MOA with factory rounds.

I have the A7 in 270 short, it is my favorite rifle by far.  With that said, i did break the stock on it a few years back (my story is under a separate thread) and i recently put a McMillan on it, absolutely love it.  I have not had issues with the magazine as others have.  Shoots great, i believe my handloads are under another thread as well.  You have to know Berreta sucks as a support company.

At least I always know when the temperature hits 70 degrees.  That's when all the cartridges start shooting out of my A7 clips. :chuckle:  They are a far cry better than the 22 mag clips for my Savage though.

Buy a .270 WSM Tikka T3 superlite and trade the factory stock out for a Bell and Carlson Medalist and you've got yourself a Sako A7 in .270 WSM. That's what I'd do. Save a couple bucks in the process.
