I carry a 10mm or a light weight 44 mag. but the 10mm holds 15+1 and 44mag is 5  in bear country the more ammo you have the better. but most to time they just run off..

If it's bears you are worried about, I do not think the Five Seven would be a good option.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with magnanimous.  The 5.7 shoots a pretty small bullet really fast and that tends to equate to over penetration without creating a good wound channel.  That's why they outlawed some of the early ammo for the 5.7x28 because they were shooting through kevlar vests.

 Respectfully, that's not correct b23.

FiveseveN is my everyday carry weapon, light weight, low recoil, high capacity and long range. It was originally developed as a military/LEO round only and the government tried very hard to keep it from being sold to civilians.

We have done loads of tests/videos and I can assure you the wound channel is far bigger than you think. ;) Factory loads are dumbed down, except for the military/LEO rounds. Hand loads tumble after they go right through level 3 body armor, create a very large channel and seldom go all the way through large ballistic gelatin and clay blocks. :twocents:

Does anyone own one or have experience shooting one?  I'm curious about how heavy it is.  I know the gun itself is lightweight, but with a 20 round clip, I imagine it would get heavy.  The 5.7x28mm round seems pretty awesome, especially the range that it gives.

The sound of a round wizzing past your head will scare the snot out of you far more than a canon blast in your own hand. Trust me.

No, but we did catch a guy or two from D.C. "Ripping up" our work... There's this watershed moment where you decide whether you're going to get get sucked into the melodrama at the expense of mental health and family life, or plan an exit strategy, take a deep breath, and say "at least there was a paycheck."  :)

Sig Sauer P250 Compact in 357 SIG is better than the FN Five Seven. This is one of my EDC's...

I prefer to hunt with a smoke pole and I have a Glock 20 10mm I carry in a Diamond D chest holster, when I carry in the woods, loaded with 15 rounds of 200gr Hornady XTP. The 5.7 x 28 is a fun gun to shoot but I'd want more knock down power when needed and I don't feel threatened by anything unarmed over 25 yards away.
