Game Calls - what is the best and easiest?
« on: June 13, 2016, 10:12:31 AM »
I drew a quality archery tag for observatory. Last year while I was cow hunting in there I managed to get into a few bulls. My cow call worked great but I haven't used a bugle that I really felt worked well. Part of that I am sure is the user... Anyway, can you recommend what bugles you might be using that are
1. Easy to learn
2. Effective
3. Not too big and cumbersome.

Thanks in advance!

cheapest way is a 1.5 inch diameter by 18 inches long piece of black plastic pipe, a good reed and lots of practice you will not believe the sound,  :yike:

Bugling bulls raging bull diaphragm with a bully bull grunt tube. Super easy to bugle with. I have never tried Phelps but have heard nothing but good about his calls.

+1 on PHELPS! lot of great bulls have been duped by a PHELPS call. I know mine was.

For me it was Phelps.  I pretty much gave up on diaphragms due to my gag reflex, but purchased some from Jason at one of his seminars. To my surprise I was making noise with them before I left the parking lot. Later on that year I bugled in a bull and shot him at 26 yards.

If nothing else, buy Phelps calls because he makes them right here in the good old USA and even sources most of his components from US companies as well.

I use the old school deeptimber bugle but it's pretty hard to use.  I still keep reeds in my pocket if needed, Phelps game call reeds are durable and sound great.  :twocents:
