I shoot the Barnes 290 TMZ.  My elk just rolled over, dead, when I shot it.  These are a little tight in some rifles
I hope my watershed bull this year does that and not run and roll to the bottom. :bash:

we have been shooting the Speer Deep curl in a MMP sabot since 2011 in our group with amazing reaults.  Somewhere between 30-35 animas taken with them in that time.  They are getting hard to come by so last year we played with the xtp- mag in the same MMP sabot and they shoot identical, and performance on game was just as devistating. Have only recovered a few of the deepcurl bullets but the few that we have have all been 90%+ weight retention and mushroomed perfectly
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Dead Centers or QT's by PR Bullet. I like the 300's and 340's.

Haven't tried on elk yet, but here is the bullet I recovered from my deer, dropped  on the spot. Federal Premium Trophy Copper 270gr. 50 cal.
Very accurate and easy to load shot after shot.

Anybody shooting these out of the Vortex NW magnum 30"?
Got the TEZ for easier loading - but could not get them down the barrel of my Vortex.   Literally beat on it to seat it so I could clear the barrel.  :dunno: :dunno:  This was with a clean barrel.

Had to switch to Powerbelt platinums which went in fine.

I didn't know that.  Definitely sucks, those shot so well for me.  I got mine years ago.  Not sure what to do when the supply runs dry.  I see they have moulds online to cast your own.

Yes, the options for the .54 in full length conical are definitely narrower than they used to be.  a few options with Sabot, but still slim pickens

I hunted with the 340 dead centers before the switch to other then lead bullets. We killed a lot of stuff with them and they are a great bullet as well.

Track of the wolf.com sells them. They are exact copies from the original maxi balls. I've killed deer and elk with them.  https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/129/1
