Pyrodex Pellets from a 54 caliber New Englander muzzy
« on: September 13, 2016, 02:13:29 PM »
Can you use pyrodex powder pellets in a traditional muzzleloader or just inline muzzys?? . I read on a pyrodex powder disc-(pellet) box and it said for inline muzzleloaders.  I have a 54 cal. New Englander with the nipple on the top. I'd like to try the pellets if they will work. Thanks for any tips..

I personally wouldn't. I like powder, it burns cleaner with caps, and you can get a more exact charge out of it. like 110g vs just being stuck at 100 or 150.

I wouldn't use pellets in a traditional (I do use them in my inlines).

Two reasons:
1.  Traditionals have a longer/harder/angled spark path......   not good for pellets.
2.  I think all the pellet manufacturers say to use them in in-lines, but they never recommend them for traditionals.
