I gave up on getting a Glock 20 milled for a Delta Point Pro Red Dot Optic, and just picked up a Glock 40 instead.

It's a pretty bad ass setup... :IBCOOL:

Black Bear hunting gun August 1st.

Jealous!  Nice setup.  What ammo and what kind of velocity are you expecting?

Thanks man.

I loaded up some Rainier 180 grain copper plated hollow points and solids. I worked up to 9.5 grains of AA5. I don't have a chronograph. Speer book says 1116 fps. I haven't  really looked at the brass that closely yet. But I'm thinking I might try and work up to 10 grains.

I'm really happy with the Leupold Delta Point Pro. I still have to work out the irons to co witness.

You can carry that in a holster?

I was thinking of one of the Blackhawk drop leg models, but haven't really decided. Thanks for links to those gunfighter and kt models  KFHuntet.

I have a Blackhawk and do not like the trigger finger release button along side the gun.  I'm a fan of the Safariland ALS holsters.
I've been using variations of thumb break holsters for many years and using a trigger finger to release a dusty gunked up button isn't optimal for me.

Ever since that dude shot his leg with a Blackhawk Serpa it's been on my mind each and every time I draw and fire even though I do it right and won't shoot myself...it's there on my mind slowing me down.

Unfortunately they don't have one for the G40 yet so I'd opt for the gunfighters.inc one for a chest carry (G40 is a big gun) or a custom low ride belt holster with leg strap.

I'm really like this one

It uses safariland quick release plates so once safariland comes out with the G40 ALS holster it would bolt right on for some extra retention.  It relocates the holster lower so your back pack strap would fit above the gun and holds the gun out far enough it'll clear the straps even some of the bulky backpack straps Id bet.

The leg strap would be nice to keep it tucked in and not allow the holster to cant inwards (lift) on a draw and bind up or hit the backpack strap.

hrm

You might be able to get that in an open top with a tek-lok that looks very much like the ALS setup  (obviously you wouldn't want the rotating hood)

That would be ideal!

You could always do a custom leather or nylon job.  I like the military m-12 shoulder holster for my G20, and I would probably try to fit a kydex or nylon holster to it.

If Bianchi made a holster that fit, that would be ideal, for my purposes.

I have been using a black hawk serpa holster for five years without issue. I do not like the drop leg holsters, if you do much walking at all it will start to annoy you.
