Thanks for the heads up! Yeah, the water (or lack of) is no joke out there. My last trip temps were in the 80-90's and I killed 2.5 gallons in 2 days (including 2 Mt House) dinners.. My plan was to pack into a canyon I like about 2 miles from the road. I decided for the Aug hunt, that I'm just going to car camp and make the hike each morning.. I feel like that beats hiking 3-4 gallons of water back there for a few days of hunting.. I plan on going back in Dec/Jan as well if I don't get one in Velvet. Even if I get lucky and get one this summer, I'll probably still buy a new tag for 1/17 and hunt into the rut as well.. So little time and so much hunting to be done!
