Gunpocalypse Hits The Senate Appropriations Committee

Act Now to Save the Second Amendment—Contact Your U.S. Senators Today

Several anti-gun U.S. Senators will be pushing amendments today, Monday, June 20, to destroy your Second Amendment Rights.

Requiring "universal" background checks by prohibiting private firearm transfers—a scheme only accomplished by implementing a federal gun registry
Banning semi-automatic rifles, the so-called "assault weapons" ban
Giving the Obama administration new authority to prohibit firearm sales to individuals on secret government blacklists without any due process
Making criminals out of gun owners who don't report lost or stolen guns

Update: Monday's votes were 53-47 for Grassley's plan, 44-56 for Murphy's, 53-47 for Cornyn's and 47-53 for Feinstein's — all short of the 60 needed.

* Amendment by Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, that would boost funds for the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and ensure that the correct records are uploaded into the system in a timely manner. Would also clarify language surrounding mental health issues that would disqualify someone from buying a gun.

Separately, Collins was laboring to fashion a bipartisan bill that would prevent people on the no-fly list — with just 81,000 names— from getting guns. There were no signs Monday that it was getting wide support or would receive a vote.

* Amendment by Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut that would require background checks for all gun sales and improve information in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System

* Amendment by Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas that would allow the government to delay a gun sale to a suspected terrorist for 72 hours, but require prosecutors to go to court to show probable cause to block the sale permanently. The National Rifle Association backs the legislation, which the Senate also rejected in December.

* Amendment by Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California that would let the government bar sales of guns and explosives to people it suspects of being terrorists. Feinstein offered a similar amendment in December, a day after an extremist couple killed 14 people in San Bernardino, California, but the Republican-run Senate rejected the proposal on a near party-line vote

If theses bills get a foot hold in California- just a matter of time before someone introduces them in Washington

June 20, 2016

At 10 AM this morning, Gunpocalypse will hit the Senate Appropriations Committee.

They will be hearing FIVE of the worst anti-gun bills we have ever seen!

And all of these bills make up part of the Gunpocalypse that is happening right now in California.

And you can watch it all unfold LIVE. http://www.calchannel.com/live-webcast/

These bills are steps away from the Governor.

We need to do all we can to kill them before they make it to his desk.

The bills up today are:

AB 1664 (Levine): Bans common and constitutionally protected firearms that have magazine locking devices.

AB 1673 (Gipson): Redefines “firearms” to include items that are not firearms.

AB 1674 (Santiago): Bans buying more than one firearm within a 30-day period.

AB 1695 (Bonta): Makes some non-violent misdemeanors punishable by prohibitions on owning firearms.

AB 2607 (Ting): Dramatically expands who can request a Gun Violence Restraining order.

Please make sure that your voice is heard by signing the petition against the 5 Gunpocalypse bills.
https://www.firearmspolicy.org/alerts/gunpocalypse-hits-the-senate-appropriations-committee/

If you’ve already signed, sign again! Let’s inundate them with opposition.

Time is of the essence!

If these bills pass, they’re one step CLOSER to Governor Jerry Brown’s desk.

And we cannot let that happen.

OPPOSE the five anti-gun bills that are being heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

I urge all members of the committee to do the same!
