Peaches Ridge Archery Tag
« on: June 22, 2016, 11:02:03 AM »
Ok so I finally drew another Peaches Ridge Archery Bull tag after 8 years of waiting. I have hunted this unit for the past 15 years with several kills of cows but I have never killed a Bull. Like I said this is my 2nd Bull tag drawn but I was unsuccessful the first time around and I will be damned if I let that happen again as I plan on hunting hard every day of the season! I have a hunting party of 4 guys and we normally hunt 336 Easton/Stampede area and I know that area really well. Thick and steep! Now with this tag in hand I was thinking about hunting more in Little Naches and did some scouting there last weekend. WOW… Couldn’t believe the amount of people camping & driving around! I also know if we hunt that area that screws my hunting partners up big time. Do you guys think Little Naches is worth it or should I stick to what I know? Sorry can't stop thinking about this tag so I might be 2nd guessing myself but I know last few years hunting Archery in WA have sucked with the warmer weather and the earlier hunting but I’m hopeful this will be a better year for us all. Thanks!

Just for what its worth I have seen 340 bulls killed right off thd little naches road.  346 does hold good bulls, i think there is a big genetic swing fron 336 to 346 though.  The bulls in 346 dont get that wide as common as they do in 336.

I would not worry about the people, come sept they will be pretty much gone except for those damn motorbikes, but the animals are used to them.

I had that tag last year and hunted both sides,  find elk in Aug abd they will be in thd same spot come Sept!

Water always helps..
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

How aften do you see bulls where you hunt now?  Do you feel you could kill one in the area you're use to hunting?  These are the 2 questions I'd ask myself with that tag.  I don't think your find much of a size difference in bulls.

Some years we see lots of bulls but that's normally when we don't have tags :bash: and there are years we don't see any with any size. I will say the bugling has sure changed over the past few years. I remember hearing Elk bugle's until almost noon now it seems like you get about 30 minutes at first light if your lucky before it all goes quiet. We pretty hunt the same areas almost everyday whether its good or bad because we know it so good and we are the only ones there which is a great but I'm thinking we need to branch out and find some new areas to give our honey hole a break now and again.

I have hunted that unit in the past. I prefer  hunting up by the pct. Less people, no trucks or bikes. Just you and the wilderness and some real nice Bulls. PM me and I can let you in on some of my favorite spots up there. Congrats on a great tag to have and good luck.
