7 months sober. I had a great weekend with family and friends. No hangovers, no puking and I remember everything. It's good to be alive and well. Couldn't catch any keeper kings but got 3 limits of crab on Saturday. Had a nice crab boil and everyone went home full.

I hear ya there, it's nice to wake up and know you kept your britches on and didn't do anything unbecoming I know I don't miss it and it sure makes getting out of bed early a whole lot easier

8 hrs sober but looking to end that soon. Nothing like a beer to steady the shakes!!

Me too...will be 11 years the middle of next month.  However, it took a couple of judges and several police officers to get me started.

Congratulations Ripper on your 7 months.  It's a tough road and a change in lifestyle, but well worth the effort it takes. Keep it going. Sept 8, I'll be 33 years sober.

Wow, congrats Paw66, that is awesome! You too Dayton items, good work. Paw, I met you during my relapse years. I maintained pretty good control during that hunt but things went down hill from there. I still have your number in my phone, I will have to give you a call, see if you want to hunt sometime. Do you have any interest in going back to Quinault to hunt bear again? Maybe we could hook up with Rick again. Share a camp with the Bearman.

Good for you ripper! My hunting partner just got out of rehab a few months back so our camp is dry. We do archery in 560 come on by man.

Just a tip of the had to Ripper for anyone that may want or need to reach out for any reason....Mark is a stand up dude. I like a few beers and have never had a problem.  Id leave it at home anytime and gladly hang out. Id also say from the time ive hung out with him i eouldnt hesitate at all to call him if i needed someone to talk to. He's good people for sure.

Always looking for a hunt. The Quinault hunt was a good time, would be interested in a return hunt. Rick would be a very good addition, enjoy hearing him call. Give me a call and we can discuss sobriety and hunting. Pat

I haven't gotten out to hunt yet, but I hope to do something this weekend. With the poor salmon forecast I will probably be hunting a lot more than usual. I think I can live with that. This is great thread. 5 yrs ago this passed Aug I sat down and figured up times I'd had contact with LE and times I'd been sober and had contact. Numbers were scary. I always believed that next to God and family, hunting was my biggest passion. Agsin I thought of times I'd been drinking night before and overslept, been hungover and not made out of camp till 10, and times I'd failed to meet up with partner cause I was just to drunk. I realized that drinking had replaced my passions. I decided to stop drinking. Since that day I've never missed an opener, left camp when it wasn't dark, or let down friend or family. My health has improved, I've progressed it work place, and make amends with those my drinking effected. I still have a daughter that won't talk to me, a granddaughter I've never met, and people who still have "old" image of me, but I trust with time and Prager, and my faith in God, that one day that will change.
