My first post in the forum and I stumbled across this first, haha.  I'll have 10 years this winter.  I'm new to hunting though.

Anyone new to sobriety, I'd echo the previous suggestions.  Get some supportive friends, hit a meeting, and follow the suggestions.

I don't think it was an accident. Anyway, 9 months for me today. I feel great and don't miss the stuff at all. I hope to get outside to hunt this weekend, the berries are almost gone so it's crunch time.

That's awesome everyone. I know a lot of you are not up in my area but I will be at the fog lifters meeting on Saturday morning at 7:30. It's at the Buzz Inn In Smokey Point. It would be cool to meet some of you. We may have to plan a get together in a control location. Might have to wait until after hunting season, but we will see.

Congrats on 9 months!  That's a big deal.  The first year is a rollercoaster.  I don't believe in accidents, so I think it's for a reason too, yet to be revealed.

It's been a little over 8 years for me now  damn I feel old. 

talk about time flying, as of exactly yesterday it's been 10 years on the button, the wife had to correct me, I thought it was a day or two over 8. I will never forget the day the last beer and a half crossed my lips.. It's crazy, I wasn't a huge drinker, but When I did I figured if a six was good a half rack or two had to be better of course the mornings seem to disagree, one thing I never did after one hellacious hangover was drink on a work night, except in the army, but we were still drunk when we started p.t and each day started at 5 am with no less than a 5 mile run and as far as 15 with the occasional 25 to 27 with push ups and sit-ups at every 5 mile mark so we skipped the hangover part

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. This is important to me so I can't get complacent, that's what doomed me before. I am fortunate to have a few sober friends to do things with, but it's not just about me. I want to help create a network of people who want to get together and support each other. On October 25 the Daily Reflections talked about unity. I know that I can't do this thing by myself, so  not only do I need the support of all of you, I need to give this gift away to others. Through giving and receiving we all become one. Stay connected my friends, it's a matter of life and death. Speaking of death, has anyone killed anything this Year? Post it up and tell us your story.

Ripper, glad you checked in again.  I was thinking about this thread maybe a week ago.  We definitely can't do this thing alone.  I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to help others with the steps, and it's sad when they don't stick around or try to go solo.  Social media can be a curse then too, because you get to watch the spiral of doom via facebook.  What I've observed is that the things an alki/addict puts in front of their sobriety is the first thing they lose.  Being consistent with my commitments helps me, and keeps me a little more sane.

A few ideas came to mind on community... You may check out the OSAT meeting on tiger mountain if you get a chance, which will have more outdoors people.  PSYPC does a lot of neat stuff, and there's a great softball league on your side of the state too.

I had my first kills ever this year, which was excellent.  1 turkey and 1 grouse.

Nice job! I haven't killed a turkey yet. I had a real nice tom in my sights last year, about a 8 to 10 inch beard. I got within about 50 yards of him but couldnt close the deal. I was on my spring bear hunt and brought my 20 gage with me. 50 yards with a 20 on a moving bird didn't feel good to me.
