electrical tape
Med kit
Space blanket
Contractor bag
Leuko tape
Lighter
Flagging
Batteries
Aquamira drops
Steripen
Leatherman
Tenacious tape
Flashlight

Just out of curiosity could you eliminate the electrical tape since you already have the tenacious tap and leuko tape ?

I've always used electrical tape as a do all but I'm on board now with the tenacious tape & leuko tape....

Maybe just carry a small amount to attach tags ?

electrical tape is my do all tape.  Million and one uses, but the tenacious tape shines way above it for taping tears in sleeping pads, tents, bags, and puffy's.  Leuko tape is mainly only good for first aid.  I only carry a small amount wrapped around a lighter handle.  Enough to cover a blister (which will last roughly 36,000 showers, and 100,000 foot miles :chuckle:).

I have to say, yesterday I picked up an outdoor edge replaceable blade knife and it is far superior to the havalon.  I have boned out 3 elk with a havalon and usually break 2 blades per elk.  The outdoor edge is a lot better design and just as sharp. I am hanging the havalon up.

Downside is, it weighs 3 times as much and is 3 times bulkier.  I'm an ounce counter, and besides, I can't remember the last time I've broke a Havalon blade.

If you want to trade a outdoor edge for a havalon let me know.

Just curious.... on your elk do you typically do full bone out gutless in the field or break hip sockets and take quarters out bone in?

[/quote]   :yeah:  except I tend to bust a few each year.  Usually because I get to rushing stuff like cutting the head off, or caping a head. Blades are light and cheap though :chuckle:

I do the gutless method.  Last few elk I have been solo and it's been in the morning and sun is out and it's going to be 80+ so I am in a hurry.  I am very mindful of weight saving on my hunts.  But 2.9 ounces to 5 ounces for the outdoor edge, I find that to be so minimal I am not worried about it.  The havalon has worked great over the last 4 years but I think the outdoor edge having the support for the end of the blade would help with durability.   Maybe I'll bring both :dunno:
