Desert Mule deer tags
« on: June 12, 2016, 09:07:04 AM »
Me and my group were lucky enough to get 3 of the 5 rifle tags for the November desert unit. We have access to a lot of the surrounding private farm lands but looking at google earth I'm not sure if hunting the public land wouldn't be better. Any info would be appreciated. We will be doing plenty of scouting will probably never get this tag again.

Plenty of public land and it's adjacent to private so explore it all!

Congrats on the tags. How many points did your group have? There are some studs out there and they often travel back and forth between the private and public ground. I would learn everything you have access to just to increase your chances of harvesting a couple of mature bucks.

I drew 1 of 2 muzzleloader buck tags for Desert 290 Oct. 8-16. I am planning to hunt public land and will be scouting this Summer. I will let you know what I find.

Good luck.

My son drew the youth September buck tag a few years back and he killed a great buck on the public land down near the towers.  One of the best hunt memories we've shared together because of the end result of course but also how many bucks we were able to see.  Good luck.
