Got coyotes?
« on: July 03, 2016, 09:38:47 AM »
Not in Washington, but thought I'd share this pic I got on one of my cameras. I've never seen this many coyotes at once! This is in a suburban 140 acre Woodlot in PA.

Just blows me away how many coyotes there are in PA now .. There was never any when I was growing up but when I was back this spring I seen 3 of them ..my best chance at filling my turkey tag was rudely interrupted by a coyote stalking up behind my decoy as the gobbler was coming to us .. We had him in the bag we thought ..He was gobbling at everything we threw at him and then Silence and then the coyote !!! Used to be a lot of foxes back in PA but I think the coyotes are going to take over ..Pretty sad ..I would rather have foxes around rather than coyotes !

Yea it's crazy. A guy I know has seen them about 1.5 miles from downtown Pittsburgh too. We still have lots of foxes around, but coyotes are popping up everywhere. Time to start laying traps.

I started hunting with an old chap who was involved with the re-introduction of turkeys in Washington.
He told me back in the late 80's early 90's-ish...he went to Pennsylvania to trade some of our coyotes for some eastern turkeys.
He said as they sat in the back of a truck in PA with a bunch of cages of eastern Washington trapped yodel dogs, he asked the PA biologist," you sure you want these dogs in your state?"
The PA biologist asked in return ," you sure you want these birds in yours?"

We will take more birds please!

We shipped coyotes to the east coast?  Anyone ever research that to know which public servant arranged that?  Kinda hard to type while shaking my head.
On another note, how many pups to you think Huntersofwashington's coyote had and what the heck is she watching in that tree?

I'm pretty sure she had a den near by. I got quite a few pictures of her during late winter/early spring
