hey if anyone see pics floating around with this backdrop let me know. if it leads to a name of who stole it, ill give you $500. and to the person that did steal it, you went with the full intent to steal this. you had all the tools, bolt cutters, drivers, etc, to do the job quick and efficiantly. when i do find you, i will be your worst nightmare. good luck hiding from me.

I just heard that one of the information giants (Google, Instagram, or someone) is working on a way to 'fingerprint' the inherent signal and noise patterns in digital sensors so that they could be readily identified and possibly even searched. So if someone posts an image from a stolen trail camera online, they could possibly be linked.

its the principle of the whole thing. its only a 100$ set up, but the fact that someone went with all the tools necessary to steal a cam, i just dont get it. with how far off the beaten path this is and severity of the hike, you know its another hunter. thats what really pisses me off. oh and if you do know who stole this, a pm will work just fine.

I was pretty hot to start but somewhat cooling down. This is all public and the third one in three years I've had stolen. I've had 2 people cross this cam in the last two years, just not easily accessible. Just burns me to my core though that people have a desire to do this. Because I leave my truck parked off a road in the mountains now makes it fair game for whoever drives by?? I think not. Personal property is personal property regardless of where it is. Just makes no sense to me. I'm sure it's not the first or last cam this person has stolen. And nothing is ever too soon macs lol. A little

No place is safe that is for sure.  I had one on my private posted property, had a guy shoot a deer and then open the camera and delete the photos. He didn't realize there was another camera pointed at the first camera.  He wouldn't come clean until I showed him the other photo proving what he did.  At least he left the camera and the SD card, sorry you weren't so lucky.

I have had some cameras stolen too.  Makes me furious!  You mentioned that they must've had tools, so was it in a lock box?  I was feeling smug about my camera being in a lock box lagged to the tree, but now...  

So so frustrating that hunters would do this to eachother!  I totally get the intense feeling of frustration when you find that you aren't the only one hunting "your" honey hole, but c'mon stealing my camera isn't going to help!

People can hunt away. It's public land, I have no problem with that. But to take the whole set up, box, lock, cable lock, and make it look as if nothing was ever there. I get some really great animals up there. Some years are awesome, some are tankers. Here's a few of the quality from this spot.

This is 6+ years of hard work. Lots of hours finding the right spots and packing in whatever I needed to. It's just disappointing. Flat out that's all I can come up with.

You are going to give me ulcers now worrying about my cameras I hung yesterday.  It takes me a full day to get in and out of there, so I was going to soak until late August.  Maybe I should check them sooner...  I would be devastated not to see what was hitting my salt!

My guess if they look at the chip and find photos like that they will be in the general area come hunting season, maybe even placing a camera nearby soon.

It also could be anti hunters or people up to no good who didn't want pics of them taken.  With the pics of the dogs I would say the wolf loving anti hunter becomes a more likely suspect.

That's how I caught my guy.  Now I just let it go, it will drive you crazy worrying about it.  Buglebrush is already stressing out about his stuff.  It's like no trespassing signs, they only keep the honest people honest.

@run, these dogs were from two years ago. Never an issue. I have them randomly on other cams quite a ways a way and never had as issue. I think some people have a complete disregard for someone else's hard work and are just fine cashing in thinking they will never be caught or that no one will make an issue of it. I'll go back in and when I do catch the person I will make it publicly known they are a thief and plaster it on anything I can. Social media can be horrible and great at the same time. People he knows will eventually see it, maybe even a boss, and see what kind of character this person really is. People don't like theives, and I'd imagine when bossman finds out might have a different perspective on his all star employee

Add me to the list - lost a Browning 10 days ago.  It may have been a bear though.  I lost the strap for it a year ago and have just placed it on a log with a tree supporting it from behind (private property).  It was fine for a year, then it quit working due to moisture intrusion.  I sent it in expecting to pay for repairs, but Browning sent me a new cam replacement even though it was way out of the warranty period.   Three weeks in the woods then poof!  No cam.

I doubt it was a hunter. Maybe a poacher but not a hunter.

Anyone who hunts legitimately is not going to bother breaking down a camera box for a $100 camera.

My guess would be a tweaker or someone living in the woods. It could also be a rogue state worker. Maybe some environmentalist student that is working out there.

Just stay armed and forget about it. I know it sucks but whoever did will get theirs eventually. Anyone lame enough to break a camera box is going to cross the wrong person at some point.

Just a heads up..... there is a camera thief in the Reecer Creek area that apparently is packing a ladder, a friend just told me his camera was stolen from there this week, it wasn't locked, but it was at ladder required height!  It was a Primos

I found a camera today that was just begging to be stolen.  I posed and put on a stupid face, then moved on (ill probably show up in the people on cams thread.)  But it got me thinking.  Ive seen a lot of these threads, and ive only been running cams for a handful of years, but ive been doing it obsessively, and i think ive worked out the kinks.  I think this winter when i have some spare time, im going to make a trailcam setting video and post it on various forums.  This crap doesnt need to happen.  Tired of seeing it.

I put mine 20 ft up. Pain in the butt to check every time but most people don't look up.  I made the mistake of putting on up in the Sultan Basin area for spring bear last year and only put it about 12ft up. *censored*s used an axe and cut the strap.

I make a shim to wedge behind them to get the right angle.

I have eleven cameras out and three lock boxes and just ordered a few more lock boxes plus one more camera.  Had two cameras stolen over the last few months the worst part is one of the cameras was stolen off my own property and the other one was on my lease that adjoins my property which is located behind a locked gate three miles away from the main road. Thieves just piss me off!!
