Doesn't even have to be for that area. Just a nearby area, as long as you call DFW and ask them an unrelated question about elk in the area Buttons lives.

I was there for the photo shoot and that animal is as tame as a can be.  Same elk scared me half to death a few years back on the Taylor Bridge Fire when it snuck up behind me and sniffed my ear at 2 in the morning.  After you see the yard where it lives you would probably think twice about hunting that elk.
