Grunden's rain gear

Anyone use this brand? I was at the local Work n More and saw some in Kryptek camo for around $68 for jacket and $70 for the pants IIRC. They seem good quality and not to noisy. One concern would be sweating in them. They are not real heavy but not as light as backpacking gear.

So anyone with experience and have any opinions good or bad?

I have been using their stuff for quite a few years commercially and for fishing and hunting.  Just bought a new jacket last winter and it stood up to 70 mph winds and driving rain.  I get over heated easily in rain gear and sometimes go without just to avoid it, the stuff that I got is breathable and unless I am over layered underneath, I don't get overly hot. 
Yep, I love my Grunden's!  The guys at my old lodge and my cousins who are commercial fisherman have all gone over to Grunden's.

I use Grundens Gage tops/bottoms for my fishing rain gear and I like it alot. Lightweight and totally dry but not silent or camo so I would not using for hunting. I paid similar cost to what you listed.

If you want durable rain gear, not much can top the orange Grundens.

Grundens and Gage are top quality rain gear. I use their rain gear for work, not for hunting. Will keep you dry but if you are really active you will sweat in it...

Nothing beats it when it is really pouring.  As noted, I wouldn't want to be too active in it.  But I have used and will use it for hunting in the right conditions.

the best in my mind,when ever I go out in the ocean I at least have the bibs on,if its nasty then the top also..you will sweat if your humping much

So it sounds like it's great gear but maybe not for hunting/backpacking? I don't move real fast but I do get hot so sweating is a concern. I didn't see if it had pit zips or not. I'm going to check on that. Thanks for the replies.

That's what every fisherman in Alaska uaea... I swear by it, it's never let me down even in 50 below with 80 mph winds

If you buy the orange Grundens raingear and hike in it you are going to sweat in it. I have been using it for work for 20 years and it's great but it doesn't breathe.

I am specifically looking at the Gage line in camo. I don't know the difference between these and the orange ones in terms of weight/material and breathability. I'm thinking the camo ones would be more breathable or lighter but just guessing on that.

I have not found any "waterproof" coat that actually breathes as advertised. I quit buying them after wasting money and time to return them.
 I use a good fleece coat with layering for light rain, and keep a Grundens Petrus light pullover (dark green) in my pack for heavy rain.
Obviously the Grundens pullover in not breathable, but it is light enough to still hunt in and stay completely dry from the elements.

I have the kryptex gauge. It's ok for the money but really depends on how wet you get. It does not stand up to a Forks rain. But it will last around an hour dry then the zippers and seams start letting water in. In the really wet Grundens Hercules are way better, I'll be testing out the new SEAK and stormtight pants this year.

It's a sweat box if your hiking but not as bad as rivers west. Typically if I sit down wearing it and it's pouring outside I get a lot of rain going down the back of my pants. But these are my experiences on the extreme side of things. I still use the jacket a lot for stuff like fishing where I'm sedimentary.

I agree with that about breathability with rain gear. I probably should say ventability like pit zips and other venting options.
