Definitely a goal of mine, a blacktail buck with my recurve. I had a stand set up for this last year but used a 270 during late buck at 10 yards to take my first deer. 20 feet was probably too high for an archery shot, in retrospect.

I like 20 to 25 feet for compound.
Join a credible hunting organization, participate in it, and take a kid hunting. Member of most hunting organizations.

I love hunting that heavy timber, most shots at less than 50 yards and many less than 25.

Thanks. Yes on the old growth. I heard him coming and shot him at 30 yards when he came over a ridge. He was facing me and I thought he was a 4pt that was on the trail cam from a day or two earlier.
