Who is going out for Kings Saturday?
« on: July 14, 2016, 09:53:40 AM »
I love this fishery! Toss out the crab pots and hit Possession bar,  or head to Mid Channel Bank. I'll probably be at the outer bar or somewhere near Pt no Pt for the low tide. Let's see some pics and maybe some info on gear used to help out some of the less experienced anglers. To me, that's what this site is all about. Sharing "some" info to help others be successful. I will be trolling flashers and spoons. For flashers, usually something green with some flash. I like the Kingfisher 3.5" spoons. You can go to John's Sporting Goods page for specifics. I troll these off my downright within 5' of the bottom. It takes work but keep adjusting for the best success. Then I like to run a deep six or a cannonball weight off the back with the same set up for the suspending fish. I have caught a few hogs on the center rod. Good luck everyone and don't wait, this one won't be open for long. Don't forget to post some pics.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

:yeah:  Sometimes a white/glow flasher, but usually some sort of green.  Same on the Kingfishers, usually something with green and white/silver.  My starting point is usually the Irish Cream.

A couple good memories from this fishery in recent years.  The last one was a solo trip - caught my two kings, then brought up the gear and finished it off with two pinks.

Very nice! Purple Haze has been a good one the last few years. I like the Irish creme also, and the Irish Flag color.

Tagging, partially because I can't fillet salmon to save my life and will be posting up when I have an open seat to persons able to fillet.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

We'll most likely fish Jeff's Head Saturday.  Has anyone fished during the C&R time up in area 9 or 10?  How's it been going if you had fished it?  We run uv purple haze flashers with the e-chip.  Probably run a herring with a head on it or cutplug herring while we run a purple haze squid with a herring strip.  If my friend comes, we'll put a spoon on the third rod with the herring strip.

I'm missing the area 9 opener for the first time in quite awhile because we're headed for Sekiu on Sunday am for the week.  The crowd at midchannel can be brutal, but a chance at catching bright and feisty kingers relatively close to home is hard to beat.  Also hard to beat the CK's and Kingfisher spoons. Good luck.

Jeff Head is Area 10. Area 10 isn't open this summer.

Hasn't been a C&R season this year either.

Area 10 opens tomorrow (July 16th) for Chinook retention. There is a quota of roughly 1300 chinook . There were good reports coming from the C/R season but the fish were small overall, 10lbs or less.
I won't be making it out for the opener unfortunately, I have a wedding to attend.  :ACRY:

Hit the clay banks in 11 today. Still bumper boats and dogfish.

Fishstiq, I'll help out anyway I can. I will fish with you or you can fish with me. I'll show you how to fillet, it's not that hard. Your knife needs to be real sharp before you begin. We didn't have to worry about filleting fish on Sat. 4 shakers, 4 dogfish, 5 flounder and 2 rockfish. We did limit out on crab with 15. It made for a couple of meals.
