I see nothing wrong with a 6.5 Grendel as an elk gun!
  :chuckle:
Just realized I typed Grendel instead of creedmoor. Oops

Its a lot more about bullet selection than the caliber, 6.5CM is a great hunting caliber WITH the right bullet.  I shoot a .260 gas gun and am looking forward to putting the smackdown on a buck this year.

I see nobody is interested in the Swede? Stupid people amuse me!

In 5 years someone will be talking about how if you don't buy the 6.65 Russian Bear Claw Max-Xtreme 1000 then you must be stupid.

A lot of these obscure rounds can't be purchased in rural areas. So in addition to the premium price you also have to pay for shipping. That obscurity also makes it harder to sell or trade specialty caliber rifles, especially if a trendier round comes out.

But yes they must be stupid for not using your favored caliber that could be eclipsed by another caliber someday which will further increase the ammo cost.

The gun I am looking at is a 18" 6.5 that has a threaded barrel and I was planning on putting my omega on it.

Thats what the one I'm shooting is 18" barrel and Im running a Thunderbeast shooting the 143 @ 2600 fps

What gun are you running? Do you hand load? And if so what is your load data?

Grendal would get it done but you better know your gun and have a load of confidence in your ability! I just finished my grendal build might have to pop a cow this year to see how it performs  :chuckle:

Never once has the availability of ammo at rural stores played into what calibers I buy for rifles.  :twocents:
