I've always thought $399 was the normal price there. Everybody I know who has bought one has bought theirs there.

I've heard there is a new model, something like a KILO 2002 or something coming out.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Before purchasing, read the warranty fine print VERY carefully.  It is the reason that I changed my mind and went with the Vortex Ranger 1500 instead of the Sig Kilo 2000.

Short version is that the optics in the Sig Kilo are covered for life, but the actual laser is only covered for 5 years.  Don't just trust me, go to their website and look closely.

There are two parts to the warranty as follows:

SIG SAUER ELECTRO-OPTICS INFINITE GUARANTEE™
•SIG SAUER ELECTRONIC COMPONENT LIMITED 5-YEAR WARRANTY

The "infinite" guarantee does not include the electronic component (in other words, the laser).

Not to side-track this thread....

But how useful are these in hunting situations? I mean with coyotes, they see any kind of movement. So reaching for your ranger and then shooting... hmmm and I guess the same would go for deer.

Thoughts?

Usually when coyote hunting I range a few different objects to get an idea of the shooting lanes. I have had digs come in a different way and was able to range them without them seeing me.

:yeah:  and normally if a coyote is far enough out to need to range it then you may be able to afford a little bit of very slow movement, and the dig is so fast it just takes a tap out to 600+ yards on the few dogs I've gotten to range sofar. Ranged a cow at 1236yards but took a sec to get since I didn't have a rest

:yeah:
I too range objects during a calling set up and use those objects as distance indicator.
When snow is on the ground, I snowshoe around the canyon rims here with a light rifle.  I spot a yote I take a crack at it.  It is rare that I don't have the opportunity to quickly put the range finder on a target before taking a shot. If they see me before I see them, they are moving fast and shooting at them is most often a waste of ammo.   Besides, there's always tomorrow.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.
