The otterbox is not as good as the lifeproof case. Not sure where the other one falls into the standings. Lifeproof is all around better if you ask me. Mines taken a dunk in the creek too. Still kicking without issue.

Life proof was bought by otter box . They are one in the same now.

Lifeproof are good, until they start falling apart. I went thru three of them in a year and a half because they kept falling apart, or the rubber on the silent toggle switch would rip off, which makes them no longer waterproof. Not to mention a lot of people kept telling me I sounded gargled when I would be talking to them. Now on my 6s plus I just run a slimmer otterbox and a tempered glass screen protector. If I'm going to be in the rain, I will sometimes throw it in a ziploc.

Otter box.  Dropped my phone off of a fire lookout 20' not a single crack on the phone.  Some scratches on the case.

None of you guys keep a cell phone for safety when in the backcountry for 5 days? Place has cell reception. Also otter box isn't waterproof. Heard about life proof cases but also saw there are waterproof bag cases that are only like $10? Nobody has tried those? Phone already has a glass screen protector and a tough case. It's the water that is concerning...

Ok, to answer your original question again, a ziploc. Lifeproof cases wear out way too quick in my experience.

In the field I take a sat phone so I know there will be service for emergencies, as long as I can see the sky. I keep it in double zip locks in my pack.
And carry a Garmin unit for navigation, the cell phone is for calling the wife, on my way home.

I can keep going.  My phone is ultralight weight and tiny compared to cameras, maps, books, gps etc that it replaces.

I bought a case similar to this while in Hawaii earlier this year for taking pics at the resort we were at and swimming. I spent a little more since i bought it from a shop there but it worked. I was able to get mine in snugly with my slim case on but removed my screen protector because it seemed to be too much of a barrier. Did fine and no water. Might use it for hunting if i need it.

I use an Incipio gel case with a little lip with no screen protector. When hunting I put the phone inside a Ziplock bag to keep it dry.
