Vortex Doubler
« on: June 14, 2016, 02:15:20 PM »
Anyone ever used one? Thinking about getting one to use on my 10x42 Vipers on a tripod instead of a spotter.

I've used one on a buddies Swarovski binos, was not impressed and I'd be willing to bet it hasn't been used since.  Can't imagine that you'd get better performance from a Vortex doubler.

Agreed, no doublers perform well at all not even swaro's doubler. They take away from clarity & light gathering suffers. Test one before purchasing, it'll save you money!

I have one. They don't take the place of a spotter, but if your just looking to get a look at something at lone distance it will work. With that said if your looking to find game with the doubler your better of saving your money for a spotter or a set of big binos  :twocents:

I was planning on using it as a way to get a better look at something I find glassing with my 10x binos. I really don't like using a spotter, let alone hauling it around. I'm not at a horn hunter, so I don't need to get a super clear look at everything that's going on with the headgear, I just need to know that its a buck/bull with horns. However, if they are that bad, I don't want to waste my money. I would consider a big set of binos on a tripod, its just that much more stuff to haul around.

For the price of the Vortex doubler, you can now purchase the Vortex Diamondback 12x50's binos. I would opt for bigger binos over a doubler.

I've heard phone scope or similar products aren't bad you can use the zoom on your phone to see closer. Haven't tried it myself but something to look at maybe.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3
