Neoprene For Scopes, Lenses, etc.
« on: July 21, 2016, 06:32:24 PM »
I'm looking for a little help, I can't seem to find a source for thin, closed cell neoprene, the kind used for lens and scope protection.

I'm wanting to make my own cover for my spotting scope, the ones I have purchased fit like crap.

Anyone know of a good source, preferably camo.

That's funny because I have been doing the same thing and haven't found anything either. I have been thinking about hitting buddies up for old worn out waders to cut up.

The issue I have found with that is its too thick, not to mention it doesn't come in the camo I want.

I'm looking for 1mm or maybe 2mm

Shawn made a cover for one of his lenses out of waders but it's too thick for a spotter.

I thought that the Cabelas neoprene cover worked pretty well on my STS 80 HD for $30.   :twocents:   I just bought the Swarovski cover for my new 95mm scope.

Not a huge fan of the Swarovski Cover, but I think that it is the best available for the STX/ATX line of scopes.

3mm is the thinnest I have been able to find. I agree, lighter would be better.

This http://www.kingscamo.com/Kings-Spotting-Scope-Skins-for-Swarovski_p_658.html is the last one I purchased, my scope is strait, not angled but the cover is cut so that it fits like crap and seems as though it's cut to fit the angled scope. I've sent it back twice but both had the same cut and fit.

The other issue is I want "desert camo" and looking at their description picture, there is no "green" in the pattern, however both I received looked more like their "mountain shadow" picture, more green than I want.

The only thing I like about it is the thickness.

Try these guys out. Used to buy from all the time when I needed stuff that was hard to find and only needed a little bit.

I was going to buy a snug fit.  How do you compare the King's Camo to the Snug Fit?
I am mostly interested in the fit more so than the camo pattern.
Glad you started this thread as i was going to order one any day.

I have a snugfit on my Vortex spotter. I can't really imagine one that fits better? I have zero complaints. It is black, not Trebark so I'm not sure if that'll work for Phool.
