bethel quality bull tag archery...
« on: July 31, 2016, 05:25:05 PM »
Just seeing who else pulled that tag, going to be up there the entire last week solo be nice to get to know some people with the tag before season starts up. Just wondering where some people will be camping etc. Maybe Share a beer or 2 over a fire pit. Hope everyone's scouting has been going great, she's coming up fast.

I think it should b a good hunt.  That gmu does not have a gen. season for archery, not that many big bull tags r given out and it next to a feed station. I heared it doesn't have big bulls but evean if thats true it should be fun with lots of action with small 5x5.

Easy with the fire!!! Last year I had the tag and was camped on the bethel side. Opening morning somebody wasn't adhearing to the burn ban on the Nile side and had a camp fire, didn't make sure it was out and turned into a good forest fire. Took them 3 days to find me camped in there but ended up getting kicked out and they closed down that side of the unit for a majority of the season. Ended up solo huninting the rest of the hunt as my buddy had only a few days to help. Ate tag soup but had a great time, a couple close encounters just couldn't catch a break on a good clean shot on 2 different bulls and the others stood true to the dreaded 80 yd curse. I will be back over again buddy drew it this year. PM me if you need any help. Drives me crazy how reluctant people are to help on this site.

My friend drew the tag and will be solo as well. I could connect the two of you if you like.  That way if one of you get an animal there would be someone nearby.

I did not say there is only 5x5 i said i heard there r not that many big ones.  I said lots of 5x5 because i used to have a cabin in rim rock and saw lots of small 5x5 and nothing over 270" but then again I've spent little time in bethel. Sorry if i insulted anyone. I will start going for the bethel archery tag as my 2nd choice once i build up quality points again. Until then i will b on the west side with my bow in gmu 506 taking any legal elk i can get.

That unit is pretty dry so concentrate on water holes and I would focus your efforts on the Chinook side.
