Shoulder mount time frame?

 I was wondering what is the average turn time for getting a deer shoulder mount done at most Taxidermist?

I think a year is pretty average.  I've got an early September shoulder mount back in less than 7 months, to a late November that was around 15 months.

One year is what I expect and it is very clear with the taxi when I drop off heads.

10-13 months is what I've seen also. I have mine and daughters 2014 deer at a taxidermist now and in October will be 24months. So I think if we are fortunate enough to fill tags this season we will find a new place to have mounts done.

Oh this should be good. About a year is acceptable, unless they give you a different timetable. I took my deer I shot last in December and had it back by May/June. Just depends on who you use.

I'm not going to out him, I like the guy on a personal level, play poker with him sometimes. Plus he makes great sausage that has quick turnaround. I was just wondering what other people's experiences was and may try a different place next time.

September deer are about 11 months, November deer are 12-14 months.  I always figure a year.  If you were told 12-15 and it's been 24 I would be very disappointed unless he has given you a reason.  Good luck

Mine have been a 10 month average

Yup...12 months is pretty average.   Only one that took longer came back looking like garbage and the taxi used excuse after excuse.....big red flag that I should have clued in on.

Average reasonable taxi wait should be around 12-16 months. Anybody waiting for 2 years turnaround should be expecting a competition level finish or fire their taxidermist! There are plenty of acceptable level taxidermist around that we should never wait 2 years. 
  For any taxis that question this IMO you either overbooked or need to get off the phone and get to work..

All of my mounts have been over a year.  One deer mount was 19 months  but,  I wouldn't care if it took three years  as long as the quality of the mount is what I consider the best available especially for the money.   Make friends with your taxi and they will never ignore your calls or texts,   staying in touch with them is key, if you are aware of the status of your mount then you  won't worry about turn around as much.  Quality work takes time, and a quality taxi will have a lot of work ahead of him .  I think the first step is to research this site for the taxis with good references
