I hunted like that for many years and still do sometimes.
I got a low to the ground Predator hunting chair, a camo tarp say 5X6 Or a sheet of shadow grass.
Put the tarp where you want to sit near water ,lay it out. put your chair on the edge about 12 inches from edge. Throw the gear you want at hand around your chair. When ready to hunt sit down and pull the tarp over your lap. If natural stuff laying around put some of that around you.
Sitting the chair on the tarp keeps it from sinking in soft soil. and gives a clean spot for gear.
I leave enough tarp to cover my head if need be. My dog sits between my legs also under the tarp. face mask ,camo , top, and gloves. Killed many ducks with this.
If there is a bush or fence line to put your back against, all the better.
