Off to a good start!
« on: August 06, 2016, 10:45:15 AM »
My foster boy and I took the grand kids hunting last week. 9 family members camping, swimming, kayaking, hunting and thanks to gramma we ate good too. We had the time of our lives. The 13 year old got his first elk @ 360 yards and the 10 year old got a bear @ 547 yards. (his first kill ever) These kids are practicing often using custom rifles with extremely good coaching. Its impressive! Here are a couple pics and good luck to all - especially the kids!

Your kids shoot better than 99% of the guys on this forum (including me) despite the grandiose long range abilities people claim.  Cool stuff man

Congrats on the elk and bear.  Very nice pictures!  Curious on the rifle calibers?

The calibers are 7mm UM and the other was a short mag. one has a super long after market barrel and both have floated barrels, bedded actions and super sweet triggers. What makes them so accurate is the reloading techniques and the right combination of components. We also spend a gob of money on the optics. The people at Leupold love us! With a good range finder, anyone can do it with a bit of practice as long as its not to windy. Although my boy is getting pretty good at gauging the wind and can shoot some super long curve balls at crazy distances. We love everything about these guns except packing them. They are pushing 15 lbs a piece. The gun in the pic of the elk is not the gun that was used. That was just a generic field gun. The heavy one stayed in the truck when we went to recover the elk.
Good luck to all!     Joe
