300 weatherby vanguard mag. Got a buddy that is selling one for 350. Don't no anything about the gun and was wondering if it's worth getting. Any input on the gun gun would be appreciated. Thanks

They usually shoot pretty well. If it's blued and synthetic stock, it was probably $400 new. .300 weatherby ammo is a little above average price wise if that's a factor.

Good shooting rifle - older ones had adjustable trigger.  New ones need timney trigger to shoot well.  Synthetic aftermarket or original stock makes a big difference in felt recoil.  Prefer the .338 for elk but 300 no slouch.

300 win mag with 200 grain federal premium boattails had ballistics that were pretty impressive.  Have taken deer at 700, elk at 400 with em.

I have one. It kicks like a mule. You will want to add a muzzle brake if it does not have one. :twocents:

Wood stock ?  The aftermarket synthetic makes a big difference.  Buddy has an old one with wood stock and hard buttplate - hardest kicking gun I've ever shot.

I have one in 300wm, it shoots very well. I've got 800 rounds threw in now and still shoots great. I put mine in a Blackhawk axiom stock with a limbsaver pad. Can shoot her all day long

I shoot a 300 Wby. in a McMillan stocked Mod 70.  I also shoot 22-250, 243 & 17 Rem @ varmints and these cartridges have almost identical trajectory.  The 300 Wby is one of the finest long range cartridges out there and it also does not want for terminal ballistics.

My buddy has the same rifle and needed to put a muzzle break on his.  I really don't mind the recoil from it.  It has a lot of velocity, but is not as severe as the 12 ga Ithaca Deerslayers w/3" slugs or a Marlin 1895 w/max loads.

I traded one for another rifle and just had to trade for another 300 wby vanguard as soon as I found another one I missed it so bad :(
I like mine and to tell you the truth I thought my Savage 116 in 338 wm kicked harder. as far as ammo goes reloading is a definite  option to think about but the non premium weatherby ammo can be had at sportsmans for about $36 a box if I remember correctly.
That which does not kill me should've had a better plan
