I'm a big fan of "if you build it, they will come". Sometimes they just need water. Chicks need some wet areas, not for the chicks, but for the bugs for them to feed on. Predators from the air are the biggest threat. Cover needs to be thick. I applaud your efforts! It should be rewarding but the cards may be stacked against you. I don't think it applies to you, but too often people don't focus on the critical habitat. The real square footage your are dealing with when crops come off and winter sets in.
