Why does this make me nervous that some eco nut is going to try and list coyotes as endangered?

They can't help make more wolves if we keep killing them.

This kind of logic (in the article) is contrary to nearly all ESA protection requirements. It does go against protections in place regaurding salmon. Here in western WA ESA salmon Issues affecting people's lives more than wolves. You cannot shut down people's building rights, Wells and such to protect a specific DNA marked salmon when others are present and expect to protect wolves that are cross breeds.

Then again it's not really about the science is it?

The coy-wolf would've received protection decades ago if this were an issue. I believe it's currently legal to kill a wolf hybrid here in the PNW. Not sure how you'd distinguish.
