Talk about cardio
« on: August 14, 2016, 10:28:21 AM »
Decided this morning to put some walking in, in hopes of finding the fabled 448 black bear. What I have found, is that I'm now about 5 miles in,  and halfway up a mountain. Decided to stop for a snack break and to take some decent pictures. Unfortunately, anything I come across this far in may get a pass. It would be foolish to down an animal and have to run back to the truck for the cart. Only to have to run right back up again. Oh well. Nice breeze, and a good view.

Nice picture! You don't carry a pack frame / backpack to carry them out?

Most of the areas I hunt aren't too far in. I'm just kind of exploring since most of berries aren't ripe yet down low. And I'm 130 lbs soaking wet. Packing out a bear on my back would be nearly impossible lol

Flamingo territory indeed. Happened across a bobcat this morning on the way in as well.

Send me a pm and I'll give you my number if you need help with a pack out. I'm only a few minutes from the gates you're likely using

Sounds like someone needs a bike with a trailer.

Very similar to that area North of Startup that holds nice bear and deer.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

I've got a bike, and a cart I can make into a trailer pretty easily. I prefer to walk. It's quieter, albeit slower. If I was humping it in 5+ miles on the regular I'd probably ride a bike. Gotta be in shape to make riding a bike worth it lol
