somewhere to stay
« on: August 15, 2016, 11:15:08 AM »
Hello, my Dad drew the Mt. Spokane North Moose cow tag. I am going to try and scout this weekend, or next. I am trying to find a place where we can stay for his hunt. My buddy had the South tag a few years ago and camped at a K.O.A. His commute was not bad. I fear with all the timber company's etc, its going to be hard to find a place to stay. Does anyone who has had this tag have any suggestions?
Thanks,

James

Are you planning on Tent camping or pulling an RV/trailer?

I believe the road to the State Park is closed for construction. Only foot/bike/horse traffic allowed from what I've read.

Maybe Dragoon Creek campground? I'm not sure if its open year round, but it definitely sits in the lower section of the Mt. Spokane North Area.

It's closed until October.  There is Riverside state park though

You are correct. I think they can get in through the Spirit Lake entrance. Not sure where it is, but I would also look into camping on the Idaho side. They also sell access permits for the forest land you will need there. One last thing, they will turn you away at the gate if you don't have a bucket, shovel, and fire extinguisher.

There is something just indescribably painful about being stuck behind a prius on the interstate.
