The kill was "as humane and ethical as one could get in a hunting situation on big game animals,"

Some argument could be made that with about any other form of "standard" hunting equipment you'd be far less likely to gut shoot a bear at that close of range.

The answer is not legally.

This is a perfect example of the influence the non-hunting public can have.  Give this great consideration fine folks, before you proceed.  Your actions can have consequences.

The answer is not legally.

Hey Bob, will you explain why it is illegal here in WA and essentially everywhere else?

Not impressed. If he had killed a charging bear with a spear that would be a video.

I could speculate, but I'm simply referencing current law:

WAC 232-12-047

(3) It is unlawful to hunt game birds or game animals, except bullfrogs, in a manner other than with a firearm, a bow and arrow, a crossbow, or by falconry.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I think it would be a great way to hunt bear!! Especially if it had its own season and be allowed to legally bait!! I can pretty much guarantee there would be a lot of competition for huntn spots :chuckle: talk about a RUSH!! A couple feet away from an animal that could relocate your head with one half hearted swipe of a paw !! Sign me up, it would be a blast..

But Bob... You reading and interpreting the law correctly has consequences.

 :chuckle: :chuckle:

I haven't seen the video but I don't have to, to render an opinion. Bear hunting with a spear would be difficult over bait and having the skill to place a lethal throw is incredible. The hate spewed by people over the video has nothing to do with the manor of hunting, they at every possible opportunity want to create a false outcry over false presences to affect change.
People get offended at nothing at all. So, speak your mind and be unapologetic.

I would rather seen him hunt a bear with a falcon.  THAT would be something to watch.

I may have seen it done, it takes balls of steel to do it.  It can be a very quick kill and very exciting.  Spearing animals was done a thousand years ago, I say if you have the nuts to do it, so be it.

I see nothing wrong with it and note because of the outrage posted over it Canada will now make it illegal.  :bash:
But yet they all want us naked and afraid? :dunno:
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
