Plunking the cowlitz?

Was wondering if anyone has had good success plunking just below blue creek? Headed down this weekend and was wondering if anyone could send a couple tips this way... Thank you much!

People tend to drift fish from the bank below blue creek. I would thinking plunking would be more effective in areas below I-5. Google maps/searches and  utube to set you well on your way.

Hey thank you for the reply, I am going to a friends property that's on the big stretch below the tailor below the clay cliffs... We have had no lich drift fishing through there. We were just thinking of trying something new...

I would also try a drop leader and just enough lead to keep you anchored with a sand shrimp on about a 6 ft leader or good egg clusters, and I know it may sound strange but if there is a good enough current you could use a cut plug herring, I have done just flat awesome in a couple rivers with cut plug, if it quits working as in laying on the bottom you just gotta reel up and pitch it back out.. another thing you might try is a side planer, they are pretty slick and you can rig it up like a down rigger , let it out on a seperate piece of line with a down rigger clip and weak set your line, you could run a kwick fish or a spoon with a anchovie fillet, I loved plunking, it's a great way to relax and kick back on the bank, drink beer and bullcrap with the buddies, except I would take a ice cold Diet Coke over a beer any day again good luck I hope to see some pics

Typically plunking works best with moving fish. However, the stretch you are talking about may be a good candidate since they stack up there. I would look for a seam where you believe the fish are moving through. The suggestion about using a side planer would allow you to use a bait diver or plug and you can move your offering up,down in and out and around the big boulders in that patch. It would offer more flexibility. If you are going to use a sinker set up I would target the head end of that hole. There is a seam as the river piles into the clay bank and heads downstream. The fish move up this seam in single file fashion. If you have multiple people fishing with you you want to make sure all your lines are slightly inboard or outbound of one another. This will help you determine which line the fish are using to move up through that stretch of river. You are allowed two hooks per line. Make sure you are using two and stretch them out 2-3' apart. When you have your line stretched out this will help you spread out your offerings.

Thank you guys for the help and advice! Just got home and not a single fish. Had a really good hit but diddnt make it to my rod fast enough!  Great weekend with great people tho!!!
